Professional Association of Biographical Counsellors (PABC)
Course Booking Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to all courses, workshops, seminars and training events organised by the Professional Association of Biographical Counsellors (PABC). By booking a place on one of our courses, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Booking Your Place
Bookings can be made through our website or by any other method approved by PABC.
Your booking will normally be confirmed once payment has been received (or, where applicable, a deposit has been paid and accepted).
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.
3. Fees and Payment
Course fees are shown on the relevant course page.
Unless otherwise stated, payment must be made before the course begins.
PABC reserves the right to refuse attendance where payment has not been received.
4. Cancellation by You
If you are unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible.
Where written notice is received:
- More than 28 days before the course start date - a full refund will normally be given, less any non-refundable booking or administration fees where stated.
- Between 14 and 28 days before the course start date - 50% of the course fee will normally be refunded.
- Less than 14 days before the course start date - no refund will normally be available.
At PABC’s discretion, you may be permitted to transfer your booking to another available course or nominate another person to attend in your place, provided sufficient notice is given.
5. Cancellation or Changes by PABC
Occasionally we may need to postpone, reschedule or cancel a course due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including low enrolment, tutor illness or unforeseen events.
Where this happens, delegates will normally be offered one of the following:
- A transfer to an alternative date.
- A credit towards another course.
- A full refund of the course fee paid.
PABC cannot accept responsibility for travel, accommodation, loss of earnings or any other costs incurred as a result of a course being cancelled or rescheduled.
6. Changes to Course Content
PABC reserves the right to make reasonable changes to course content, tutors, venues, timings or delivery methods where necessary.
Such changes will not normally affect the overall quality or learning objectives of the course.
7. Attendance
Delegates are expected to attend all sessions wherever reasonably possible.
Where certificates of attendance or completion are offered, these may be subject to minimum attendance requirements.
8. Online Courses
For online courses, delegates are responsible for ensuring they have:
- A suitable internet connection.
- Appropriate computer or mobile equipment.
- Any software required to participate.
Unless expressly stated, online sessions must not be recorded, copied or redistributed without prior written permission from PABC.
9. Course Materials and Copyright
All course materials remain the intellectual property of PABC or the individual course tutor unless otherwise stated.
Materials are provided for personal study only and must not be copied, reproduced, shared, sold or published without prior written permission.
10. Behaviour
PABC aims to provide a welcoming, respectful and supportive learning environment.
Participants are expected to treat tutors, staff and fellow delegates with courtesy and respect at all times.
PABC reserves the right to remove any participant whose behaviour is considered disruptive, abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate. In such circumstances no refund will normally be given.
11. Accessibility
We are committed to making our courses as accessible as reasonably possible.
If you have any accessibility requirements or require reasonable adjustments, please contact us before the course so that appropriate arrangements can be discussed.
12. Health and Wellbeing
Some courses may involve discussion of emotionally sensitive topics.
Participants are encouraged to consider their own wellbeing and to seek appropriate support where necessary.
PABC courses are educational in nature and are not intended to replace medical advice, psychiatric treatment, psychotherapy, counselling, crisis intervention or other professional healthcare services.
13. Professional Recognition
Attendance on a PABC course does not, by itself, confer membership of the Professional Association of Biographical Counsellors, professional registration or accreditation unless this is expressly stated within the course description.
Where courses form part of a recognised training pathway, the relevant requirements will be explained within the course information.
14. Personal Information
PABC will process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Your information will only be used for purposes connected with your booking, course administration and related communications.
Where appropriate, limited information may be shared with course tutors where necessary for the delivery of the course.
15. Liability
PABC accepts responsibility only where required by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to the above, PABC shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of earnings, travel expenses, accommodation costs or business interruption arising from attendance at, cancellation of or changes to a course.
Delegates remain responsible for their own personal belongings.
16. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of a course, please contact us as soon as possible.
We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to investigate and respond within a reasonable timescale.
17. Changes to these Terms
PABC may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
The version published on our website at the time of booking will apply to your booking.
18. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
